Here's a little diversion from the McDonaldland pieces. 
 
Wizard of Fries is an obscure, short lived character from Burger King. In the late ‘70s, BK tried to create their own version of a McDonaldland type of world, with their own quirky characters and puppets. In addition to the titular Burger King, there was also Sir Shakes-a-lot, Duke of Doubt, The Burger Thing and The Wizard of Fries. They were all featured on various premiums and give aways as well as an assortment of commercials. Wizard of Fries didn’t appear in many of them, though, as there wasn’t much they could do with the character, and the prop was probably difficult to work with.
 
As I was researching him, I noticed that he never had a consistent style. Each illustration had different buttons and gears and other features. So I kind of picked the best ones and also referenced the “real” version of him from the commercial as best I could - as the commercial is very grainy.
 
I sized him to the same scale as the rest of my McDonaldland pieces (1:9), so even though they are from competing worlds, they can still hang out together.
 
He is cast up in 8 pieces, plus a clear plastic dome and expandable arms. He also features a spring inside of him for “bobble” action.
 
These are made in a limited amount, as - like all of my projects - they take a very long time to make - and I often find myself moving on to new projects quickly.
